This stylish Leather holdall by Ashwood uses a beautiful full grain cow tumble leather hide to create a traditional Gladstone Bag with a modern feel.
Traditional and still practical this beautifully hand crafted bag is ideal as a Doctor's bag with its structure and gaping open top, but is also a perfect holdall for a weekend away.
Leather is a natural product and as such the actual colour may vary and unique individual markings may appear on a hide. This gives leather a unique identity, which enhances its natural beauty and characteristics.
A Little bit of History....
"A Gladstone bag is a small portmanteau suitcase built over a rigid frame which could separate into two equal sections. Unlike a suitcase, a Gladstone bag is "deeper in proportion to its length." Gladstone’s are typically made of stiff leather and often belted with lanyards and were designed and manufactured in the middle of 19th century by J. G. Beard, a London leather dealer. The bags are named after William Ewart Gladstone (1809–1898), the four-time Prime Minister of the UK."
