Love your Leather - Take Care of you Leather and it can Last a Lifetime

Love your Leather

Leather can last a life time if cared for properly.

You shouldn’t need to treat your leather item, its naturally hard wearing and good to go but like all of us, a bit of TLC from time to time can keep it looking good.

When storing leather items try to keep them out of sunlight, store in a card board box or dust proof cotton bag to keep your leather from drying out and becoming brittle. Avoid storing in plastic as this can cut off air supply to the material which stops it from breathing.

To clean leather never use soap or cleaning products. Brush off any dust or dirt gently with a dry cloth or your hands. Then use a wet cloth soaked in clean luke warm water to clean over the surface. Allow to dry slowly and naturally, never use a hair dryer or heat source to dry leather. The best way to dry a leather item is to hang it in an airy room away from direct sunlight.

Over time leather will naturally develop different textures and or cracks. This is the beauty of the material. But if you prefer to keep your leather from marking you can treat your items with a quality leather wax.

If your item is suede, you can use a suede brush to clean the leather. You can also buy waterproofing sprays that can help prevent stains, but always do a small patch test to see how the material reacts to the spray.
